11/7: Chuckles the Clown, played by Richard Schaal, makes his MTMS debut in Episode 1.8, The Snow Must Go On.

12/19: Original broadcast of the first of two 'Christmas' shows, Christmas and the Hard-Luck Kid

3/6 : Season 1 closes with The 45-Year-Old Man, Episode 1.24

5/13 : Emmy Awards Ceremony for the 1970-71 Season :

  • Ed Asner for Best Supporting Actor/Comedy
  • Valerie Harper for Best Supporting Actress/Comedy ;
  • Jay Sandrich for Directing (Tolouse Lautrec is One of My Favorite Artists)

    11/4 : Jerry Van Dyke guest stars in Episode 3.8, But Seriously, Folks.

    12/16 : Georgia Engel makes her MTM debut in Episode 3.14, Rhoda Morgenstern, Minneapolis to New York as Georgette Franklin, the high-pitched virginal bachelorette at one of Mary's notoriously bad parties.
